Shotgunning for Love Letters | Artisan Calligraphy

At Shotgunning for Love Letters, calligraphy is handcrafted and personal. I think of calligraphy like a fingerprint; each artisan has their own style. For me, each curve is crafted with mindful purpose. I believe in the value of textured handmade paper, the pillowy effect of letterpress into double thick cotton stock, and the beautiful imperfection of a hand lettered stroke. I’m inspired by little drops of ink where they’re not supposed to be, and words on paper that beckon to become an heirloom wedding invitation. Shotgunning for Love Letters is an inclusive calligraphy studio focusing on save the dates, invitations, envelope calligraphy, custom illustrations, and day of wedding calligraphy services.

beginners kit and practice pad

Calligraphy is truly a hobby that takes practice. That practice yields progress and you’ll surprise yourself each time you pick up a pen. It can be very frustrating in the beginning, but you will develop your own style over time--with the right tools and some practice. I’ve curated a kit with my favorite materials that will help you pick up a new hobby and provide an introduction to modern calligraphy. On these pages, you’ll find the uppercase and lowercase alphabet, numbers, and phrases. I hope you explore and your own style and enjoy practicing this old trade I love so much.

Nikki shares a love of antiquing and prop styling with friend and stylist, Elizabeth, from East Made Event Company. Together, they carefully source props and antiques locally, and during their worldwide travels to elevate their own flat lay design. After finding too many good things to keep only to themselves, they started C U R A T E D B E H A V I O R—a resource for elevated design.
